PDR processes are actually a lot more complicated than they sound, even though they somewhat follow the same route as the DIY boiling water solution (minus the boiling water, of course). In a PDR, technicians will use various tools to unbend the dents on your car using a two-way approach: one tool pushing into the dent and another tool pushing against it. If done right, the forces applied to the dent will even each other out, resulting in a more leveled surface. It is entirely possible for you to do a PDR process on your own, but you may cause irreversible damages to the body and/or paint on your car.
